BRITISH Antique TOWER of LONDON .65 Caliber Cavalry MUSKETOON/CARBINE 1800s
Early-19th Century British Dragoon Longarm!
Here we present an antique Tower of London Cavalry Musketoon, made circa the Napoleonic era in the early-1800s. This British martial longarm would have started out life as a flintlock and converted to percussion as the more reliable firing system was introduced circa the 1830s. This piece may have been used as early as the later years of the Napoleonic Wars and anywhere the vast British Empire stretched.
This musketoon resembles the pattern of the full-length Brown Bess. The barrel proofs are from Birmingham. The lock is Tower of London marked and has the British crown cipher.
The overall condition is good. Nice, smooth bore. The action is strong. The wrist has been repaired and the cracks immobilized. The rest of the stock remains solid. These musketoons are not nearly as common as full-length Brown Bess muskets, especially on this side of the pond.
