Description:
Serial #53L7161, .303 British, 25" barrel with a fine, bright bore that has some mild freckling within the grooves. This is a 1943 dated rifle that has retained 75-80% of the original blue finish, which has numerous small handling marks scattered throughout, as well as gray fading and silvering along the high and exposed edges. The bolt is correct, but numbered to a different gun and exhibits some further mild wear and finish loss on the bearing surfaces, and the handle has flaked to dark gray underlying metal in spots. A two-position rear battle sight is fitted, and there is an import mark at the muzzle. The walnut buttstock, “5" numbered forend, and handguards are in about good plus condition with numerous handling marks and bruises in the reapplied military oil finish. Additionally, there is a rectangular area on the left side of the buttstock where a plaque or decal was removed at some point. The rifle is accompanied by a single non-matching numbered magazine. This is a very good example of a wartime Canadian No. 4, and would make a nice addition to any collection. FFL or C&R
