This is a 1943 dated, “M47" (BSA-Shirley) marked rifle that retains 70-75% of the wartime blued finish, with dull gray metal and plum-brown patina on the high edges, projections, and bearing surfaces of the matching bolt. The front sight protectors are slightly bent, and have numerous small impact marks along the edges, while a Mk. II sheet-metal sight is installed on the receiver. Extensive post-war Birmingham commercial proofs are present at the muzzle. The wood is in good-very good shape with numerous small handling marks and minor blemishes throughout, as well as a large bruise on the right side, just above the trigger. Rack/issue numbers are painted in white on the underside of the forend and left side of the buttstock: “P / 208" and “109". The rifle has an olive green canvas sling fitted, and comes with a single, unmarked magazine. This is a good looking No. 4 rifle, and rates very good plus condition overall.
