Description:
SOLD    A most colorful musket of .75 cal., with a 39” barrel with an oxidized bore. The barrel and lock of this musket dating to the late 1840s to early 1850s is a lightly-oxidized mix of gray and brown patina with moderate pitting around the bolster and along the wood line and fine pitting throughout along with a few small spots of moderate oxidation on the wood line and a few small impact marks on the barrel, but salt and pepper very fine pits. The brass mountings have been lightly cleaned to a goldenrod patina with the typical scattered light handling marks, some verdigris around the triggerguard screws, and minor tarnish remaining in the protected areas. The lockplate bears to the rampant lion guardant of the East India Company and there is a softened proof on the left of the breech while there are Nepali characters on the rear of the triggerguard and on the tang of the buttplate. The European hardwood stock rates about very good as lightly cleaned with a touch of period-added finish along with four filled repairs along the right side of the forend opposite the three barrel wedges and rearmost barrel pin, a 1/2” chip behind the rear lockplate screw, a chip around a couple of the barrel pins on the left side of the forend and the expected scattered light handling marks. The left side of the buttstock is marked with a lightly-softened “32 / C / 56”. The upper sling swivel appears to be a contemporary replacement, the rear lockplate screw shows moderate slot damage, the original rear sling swivel, sights, and bayonet catch are intact, a cupped trumpet-head ramrod with threaded end is included and the action has the half-cock notch worn and the hammer drops strongly ar full cock.. This interesting musket from the mid-nineteenth century likely served in the farthest corners of the British empire before being placed in long-term storage in the Kingdom of Nepal. Condition is far above recent imports, covered and stained in grease, slpit wood and rust.My Photos tell all. Could tell a good story or two about it's life. When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith  before  shooting. To buy a gun from me you must get a direct email for me, with details, and shipping cost.   We don’t have a web  site .I prefer money orders or a check.  Item ships when funds come in. I try to keep guns  affordable, which means I make less money than most dealers. You won’t get altitude sickness, or nose bleed, with my prices! I consistently have the best selection of  older guns If you attempt to buy,  you must still contact us for details . Best to email to buy. Sometimes a local person can stop buy and purchase before the gun is removed.  Sometimes not home to get calls. Some guns are required shipment to a gun dealer near you for a transfer to you when it arrives. Otherwise many older or black powder guns ship to your door. With the widest selection of older guns at great prices, We don’t have a store, and sell on the internet only.  I’m easy to get along with. Thank You
