Description:
FINE Antique HOPKINS & ALLEN .22 S LR FALLING BLOCK Rifle Octagonal Barrel

Very Handsome, High Condition Single Shot Rifle

Here we present an antique Hopkins & Allen Manufacturing Company Falling Block Rifle in .22 made between 1888 and 1892 in Norwich, Connecticut. This rifle features a very attractive profile with a checkered walnut stock, Swiss type butt plate, octagonal barrel, and takedown capability. The barrel will separate from the receiver by removing the thumbscrew (the head of which is visible on the right side of the frame). The front sight is a windage adjustable post, the rear sight on the barrel is a semi-buckhorn, and there is an adjustable tang-mounted peep. The receiver is case-colored, and the barrel is blued.

The Hopkins & Allen Manufacturing Company of Norwich, Connecticut was founded in 1866.  The name was changed to Hopkins & Allen Arms Company in 1896 and continued until the company was taken over by Marlin-Rockwell Corporation in 1914.

Hopkins & Allen was known mainly for their revolvers, but the firm did start manufacturing single shot rifles like this one in 1888. The company also produced several of both single shot and side-by-side shotguns. This Falling Block was chambered in a variety of calibers ranging from .22 rimfire through .38-55 WCF. Its single shot action would have been great to teach a young lad the importance of making every shot count!

The overall condition is fine. Original blue finish and case colors! Excellent action. Bright, sharply rifled bore. Solid walnut stock with sharply checkered wrist and forearm. Markings are legible. A truly well-preserved antique rifle for any collection!

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrel is 28 inches.

Caliber: .22 Rimfire

Overall condition as seen in photos.
