Description:
Excellent Bausch & Lomb Balvar 8 scope with B&L plunger mounts that will fit a standard post war Pre 64 Winchester Model 70 receiver. Fine tapered reticle. Optics are bright with no internal debris. Power ring moves freely and functions properly.
These Rochester N.Y. made B&L products were among the best in the world and on a par with the top European makers of their time. S/N is HU2686 believed to be made in 1959. These scopes have no turrets for windage or elevation, all adjustments are made on the mounts themselves, so you could theoretically have an unlimited number of rifles with mounts and only one scope which positively plunges in and out of the mounts with no loss of zero despite caliber or configuration. There are a few light abrasions and the ring screws are slightly tool marked, but overall a very nice package.
