Description:
NSN, .60 Caliber, 4 1/2 inch cannon muzzle barrels with very good, lightly pitted bores. These are handsomely proportioned pistols that have an overall mottled and bright gray patina on both guns with deeply struck proofmarks on the undersides, along with a “1" witness mark on the frame and barrel of one pistol (the barrels are not interchangeable). The pistols have sparse, but skillfully executed engraving with “T / RICHARDS" vignettes on the right sides, and martial panoplies on the left. Further rosettes are present on the still functional sliding safety trigger guards. The flared walnut grips have intricate silver wire inlays and nicely tarnished silver grotesque caps (one of which has a replaced screw). One of the pistols has short, with-the-grain cracks running back from the peaks on either side of the frame. The actions of both pistols are fully functional, and the barrels of both turn-off without too much difficulty. The original spanner is no longer present. These are splendid Queen Anne pistols, in very good-fine condition, and would make a splendid addition to any collection. Antique
