Description:
SOLD An interesting Colt Special musket with a 40" long barreled and oxidized bore, that would clean up much better with a steel brush and oil. The action works well and has good clear lock markings. The American walnut stock is good and shows raised grain and wear with a steel button ram-rod.Has a missing rear sight, easily found. The trigger guard has the sling swivel hole removed and flattened, and the front band has no swivel.Exterior metal is brown patina and has the VP proof. Some pitting around the breech area of the nipple . Opposite side of the lock the stock has lines on both sides of the cartouche, and they appear to be raised grain of possibly an early repair?Overall a good Civil War used musket of .58 caliber.Lock dated 1863 and the bolster has the eagle marking.Schuyler Hartley and Graham sold 2,500 of these guns to the state of Connecticut in 1863 according to Flayderman.
