Description:
A colorful used musket that most likely had seen service in the Civil War, with a .70 cal. smooth bore and a Officers fusil  32''  barrel with an oxidized, and fouled poor  bore. The metal surfaces of this musket are mostly a mottled gunmetal gray patina showing cleaned moderate pitting ar the nipple area, some areas of old oxidation and erosion. The buttplate has been re-shaped into a thinner overall profile and strangely, the musket shows Belgian-style cone conversion with been mostly ground off and a small hole partially drilled behind it and another touch hole drilled through the right side. The hammer is still situated for the cone-style conversion. The breech markings are rather faint but the lockplate retains nice strong markings with ''NEW / HAVEN / 1835'' at the rear and ''U.S / (Crossed Arrow and Olive Branch) / E. WHITNEY'' in the center, and 1835. Ytigger guard has the sling swivel. The tang of the barrel is marked 1823. The smooth walnut stock remains in fair/food condition showing some scattered thin drying cracks, shallow chips, a length-wise crack in the beginning of the ramrod channel, overall dings and the butt has been thinned out slightly. There is a steel ramrod and the lock seems to function well mechanically.
When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith  before  shooting. To buy a gun from me you must get a direct email for me, with details, and shipping cost.   We don’t have a web  site .I prefer money orders or a check.  Item ships when funds come in. I try to keep guns  affordable, which means I make less money than most dealers. You won’t get altitude sickness, or nose bleed, with my prices! I consistently have the best selection of  older guns If you attempt to buy,  you must still contact us for details . Best to email to buy. Sometimes a local person can stop buy and purchase before the gun is removed.  Sometimes not home to get calls. Some guns are required shipment to a gun dealer near you for a transfer to you when it arrives. Otherwise many older or black powder guns ship to your door. With the widest selection of older guns at great prices, We don’t have a store, and sell on the internet only.  I’m easy to get along with. Thank You
