Description:
This is a very classy and handsome factory engraved Navy Arms Remington 1858 New Model Army Revolver in .44 caliber cap and ball complete with it's original wooden presentation case and all of it's accessories.  This Navy Arms revolver is in unfired and mint condition, having spent it's entire life in storage inside it's fitted case.  This Remington 1858 replica is a top-quality piece with superb fit and finish and beautiful engraving.  This was built by Uberti in Italy for Navy Arms during a time in which Uberti was really building high-quality replicas.  This Remington replica was modeled after an original factory-engraved antique Remington, one that was pictured on the front of the 7th Edition of Flayderman's Guide to Antique American Arms.  We have included a small picture of the front of the 7th Edition of Flayderman's Guide with the gun.  There is also a revolver identical to this one pictured on the cover of the 1972 Navy Arms catalogue.  There is a picture of the front of that catalogue included in this listing and we are including an original copy of that catalogue with the gun as well.  This .44 caliber Remington New Model Army replica features "Grade C" floral and scroll engraving (highest grade offered), a silver-plated barrel, frame, and triggerguard, a gilted gold loading lever, trigger, hammer, and cylinder, a 8" inch octagon barrel, fixed iron sights, an unfluted 6-shot cylinder, and gloss-finished deluxe European Walnut grips.  As you can see from the pictures, this revolver looks like-new in every way and is just as pristine on the inside as the exterior.  Both the factory silver plating and gold finish are bright, clean, and fully intact, showing no flaking, thinning, or mechanical wear.  If not for a VERY faint drag-line around the cylinder the gold finish would rate 100% perfect, as it sits now both the silver plating and gold finish rate 99%.  The hand-cut engraving on this Navy Arms revolver is of the highest quality with clean and crisp lines, perfect spacing, and perfectly executed borders.  All of the factory markings on the gun are crisp and 100% legible, including the 1973 date stamp under the loading lever of "XX9".  The bore in the 8" inch octagon barrel is mirror-bright and perfect, with razor sharp lands and grooves in the rifling and ZERO visible imperfections or pitting.  The 6 chambers in th cylinder are equally as clean and perfect, and both the face and rear action star of the cylinder are in like-new condition.  All 6 of the original blued steel nipples are still intact on this gun and in like-new condition.  The factory grips on this New Model Army are particularly beautiful, showing some spectacular contrasting color and figure on both grip panels.  The bright gloss finish on the grips really gives the stripes and figure a deep look to them and protects the wood at the same time.  The action on this Navy Arms Remington is extremely smooth and perfectly "in time" no matter how fast or slow the action is worked.  Tha hammer still has both the half-cock/safety and full-cock notches intact, and the hammer will not drop from the half-cock position if the trigger is pulled.  The factory trigger is excellent, breaking like a glass rod with a light pull.  All of the controls on this Navy Arms Remington are in perfect working order, and we have no doubt that this revolver will function just as well today as the day it left the factory 48 plus years ago.  As mentioned before, this beautiful replica comes complete with a proper factory fitted presentation case and all of the accessories needed to load and fire it.  The very nice and well-made presentation case is constructed of a hardwood with finger joints in all of the corners and brass hardware. The inside of the case is completely lined with a red velour, and the bottom half is divided into 5 compartments for the gun, caps, powder flask, double bullet mold, and nipple wrench.  All of the accessories are in excellent condition and show no signs of wear or use.  The double bullet mold can be used to make conical or round ball projectiles, and the copper and brass powder flask has the Navy Arms logo on both sides consisting of crossed cannon barrels and an anchor with a "N" on one side and an "A" on the other.  The nipple wrench is blued steel, and the full and sealed cap tin was made by RWS but carries the Navy Arms logo and label on the lid.  The lockable brass latch on the front of the fitted case is keyed and there is one key for it inside the cap tin compartment.  All in all, this is one of the coolest and most attractive vintage Navy Arms replicas we have had in a fitted case in a long time.  This factory-engraved .44 caliber cap and ball Remington 1858 New Model Army revolver would be a superb addition to any percussion revolver collection, and it would also make a very classy decorator as a display piece in a living room or study.  As a black powder arm this Navy Arms revolver can be shipped directly to the buyer's home, no FFL needed.
