Description:
The Smith & Wesson First Model (Single Shot Model of 1891) was made from 1893 to 1905, with 1,251 manufactured. The guns were fitted with either a 6, 8, or 10 inch barrel, hard rubber extension grips, blue or nickel finished, single action trigger, and chambered in .22 LR (862 mfg.), .32 S&W (229 mfg.), or .38 S&W (160 mfg.). This Model 91 is as described and is fitted with a 8 inch barrel, is blue finished, and chambered in .22 LR. It is in good condition, it does not retain any of its original blue finish and has turned a grey patina with corrosion spotting/pock marks on the right side of the barrel, right, left, and bottom side of the frame. The grips are in good condition, with the right grip panel having been cracked and repaired. There is visible rifling through out the bore, but some minor corrosion spotting, would be very shootable. The barrel to frame fit is tight but the top break hinge point is loose. The action works but the hammer does not lock back to full cock. These are very hard to find, if you are looking for a filler for your collection, or have just been curious about these guns, now is your chance to own one.
