Description:
This is an exceptionally clean and beautiful 1943 Japanese Type 14 Nambu pistol manufactured by Nagoya and brought to the States as a war trophy by an American G.I. from World War 2.  This Nambu is 100% matching except for the magazine, which is a WW2 original magazine with the spring tensioner cut-out.  These Nambu's were a prized trophy for American soldiers in the Pacific Theatre during WW2.  Designed in the 14th year of the Taisho era (1926), the Type 14 was adopted by the Imperial Japanese Army in 1927 and was the standard issue sidearm for Japanese Offficers till the end of World War 2.  The semi-automatic Type 14 Nambu was chambered in 8mm Nambu with a 3.25" inch barrel, a gloss blue factory finish, grooved hardwood grips, and a 7-round single-stack magazine.  This particular example was made in October of 1943 and is serial number 94014 of the Nagoya "A" series; the "A" series started after the Nagoya Arsenal reached serial number "99999" of it's original series during October of 1941.  This Type 14 is in excellent condition inside and out, and has obviously been well cared-for over the years.  The original factory blue finish rates 96% plus, with the only deductions coming from some very minor handling marks and a little bit of finish wear on the top of the slide where metal to metal contact occurs when the action is worked.  Both grip straps are in excellent condition overall.  All of the factory markings on this Nambu are crisp and clear, and as mentioned before, all of the numbered parts of the pistol match both inside and out including the firing pin and both grips.  The bore in this Nambu is superb, in like-new condition with no visible wear, erosion, or pitting.  The rifling is still razor sharp from the chamber to the crown of the muzzle.  The bolt face is also pristine in this Nambu, however there is a little bit of damage to the cocking piece at the rear of the bolt where one of the fins has a little bend to it.  This can be seen in the pictures provided and should be easy to fix if the new owner so chooses.  The grips on this pistol are in excellent condition overall, with both sides free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major dings/damage.  Both grips are perfectly fit to the gun and tight to the metal with no wiggle in them.  The action on this Type 14 is slick and smooth, and all of the controls are in perfect working order.  There is no doubt that this Nambu will still function just as well today as the day it left the factory in 1943.  As mentioned before, it comes with one correct period original magazine also in perfect working order.  The magazine is numbered "237".  If you have been looking for a high-condition and all-original WW2 Type 14 Nambu for your collection you would be hard-pressed to find a better example than this one.
