Description:
This is not a cut down vintage WWI Mod. 96 to meet the needs of a short rifle for horseback use. This 1941 manufactured Swedish military rifle was designed specifically with the down bolt [for saddle] mod. 1938 design. It does not look like it has had any field use. The wood, metal and bluing are 99%. The stock proof mark is crisp showing no sanding of stock. The barrel is bright with strong grooves. The stock disk shows the barrel bore diameter as 6.48 and, with no small triangle existing in the smaller triangle to the right the disk marks the barrel as new. With the use of a dental pick I could not remove the disk for cleaning- it's original to rifle and shows new barrel. The metal to wood fit shows precision machining with close fitting suggesting no exposure to weather extremes. MOST UNUSUAL is that every number matches. This means the numbers on the interior of the stock, match the barrel number [which you can not see without dismantling the rifle], and all visible numbers of the sight, bolt etc. See photos which show all of this. The barrel end is threaded for the blank firing device included. To cover the threads photos show a barrel cap.
