Description: General Specs: Winchester, Year 1938, 20 Gauge, 6lbs 10oz, Chokes WS1/WS2, LOP 14 1/16" rear trigger, DAH 2", DAC 1 1/2" Serial Number: 8731 Most double gun enthusiasts are aware of the reputation earned by the Winchester Model 21; a gun of far superior strength and mechanical genius that was under the micro-management of John Olin himself. If you like heavy loads for tough birds like pheasants or ducks, this is your gun. You can shoot the heaviest of magnum 2 ¾” shells in a Model 21 with no concerns. With the chokes on this gun, you can even shoot steel or other, MORE EFFECTIVE, hard non-toxic shot like tungsten or Hevi-Shot, (ask about this and I will explain). With only 32,000 produced (compared to 250,000 Parkers!), any high condition, original Model 21 is a valuable, investment quality firearm sure to appreciate as you enjoy its use. From 1930 to 1943 they only made 1900 20-gauge guns in all grades, most of them Standard Grades or Skeet Grades. This gun, sn8731 built in 1938, is a highly desirable Trap Grade stocked with the English style straight hand stock with superbly figured wood and checkered side panels that were characteristic of the Trap Grade Model 21 guns. THIS GUN IS ALL FACTORY ORIGINAL FINISHES, something you just don’t see in Model 21’s any longer. It seems most all have been refinished in that black, dark finish on the action that just isn’t right for a pre-war Model 21. This pre-war gun has about 90% of the charcoal blue still intact on the action, 98% factory blue on the barrels, about 60% charcoal blue on the trigger guard, and most all the wood finish still intact. She is a nice handling little shotgun that would be awesome for upland birds over dogs or in the thick stuff, or for clays games at your favorite gun club. The 26” barrels are choked WS1 and WS2. The “Skeet 1” choke is ideal for 20-25 yard shots. Many are not aware that the WS2 chokes are actually a little tighter than Improved Cylinder at 10 thousandths constriction…ideal for your upland game. The Trap Grade was said to have special attention to boring, chokes, and finish with highly figured wood, and checkered side panels. The "Trap/Skeet" was a skeet choked Trap Grade. At 83 years old this Model 21 is in remarkable condition having been well cared for, with perfect mechanics, no major nicks or dings, mirror bores, tight on face and hinge pin like a new gun, just a little carry wear on the bottom of the receiver as one would expect. For the classic double gun enthusiast finding the English style stock is the best. This is a hard to find, all factory original gun, so don’t miss out! Buy the gun now! Thanks for looking.
