Description:
RP Bruff mid Civil War production, 2 1/2" bbl with deep 6 groove rifling, German silver mounted, 2 barrel band inlays, no damage or pitting, excellent action, undamaged original nipple, #24 stamped on bottom of barrel and on breech plug, well worn checkering but visable.
Bruff brothers began business in the late 1850's in NYC with a sizable workforce, some of whom came from Henry Deringer's operation in Philadelphia. They specialized in tools, knives, imports, and copies of Deringer's pocket pistols for shipment to both the North and South. Some were marked with the Bruff name and some unmarked were likely for the Southern trade. Business lasted into the 1870's. Nice shotable six groove bore.
First four photos are of this gun while the other five are examples of Bruff derringers for comparison of unique features.
