Description:
At one time this was considered a standard in the world of conceal carry handguns. Indeed this pistol exhibits signs that it was carried at least for a brief period. There is some light wear to the frame on the right hand side which is visible as a bright spot. The grips have light surface scratches. There is light rust on top of the slide as well as the right side de-cocker. The rust can be fixed with the correct application of some Flitz. The finish on the rest of the pistol is as it should be. The bore is in excellent shape. Smith & Wesson did a really good job with their handguns back then, producing a variety of pistols from the largest hand cannon in 10mm Auto to small conceal carry guns like the 6906. The various models in the 3rd Generation S&W handguns came about as a desire to cover all the bases with respect to potential buyers. Thus, a Smith & Wesson pistol could be found with either an alloy frame (both satin or black finishes) or stainless steel frame paired with a carbon-blued or stainless slide with a variety of options for controls (right-hand de-cocker, ambidextrous de-cocker, no de-cocker, etc.). Some pistols even came with tactical rails. If there was a drawback to all this variety, it’s that each model had relatively few units compared to say, a WWII 1911. Each model might have anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand produced but the overall total for all 3rd Generation pistols was well into the tens of thousands. Today, these fine pistols have been replaced on the market with inexpensive, polymer framed pistols which seem to lack the “soul” of their predecessors. This 6906 does not have a box but does come with three magazines.
