Description:
This is a fine example of the Walther PPK, a 1930’s design made famous by the James Bond character from Ian Fleming’s many spy novels. It was a development of the Walther PP model of 1929. The new version had a shorter grip and shorter barrel, and as a result, was given the “K” for “Kurz” in its designation. The German word, “Kurz,” in English means “Short.” Both the PP and PPK were the first truly successful double action pistols in the world. The PPK was imported from Germany to the United States until 1968 when further importation was prohibited by the Gun Control Act of ’68. To pass the restrictions imposed by the Gun Control Act of 1968, Walther combined the PPK slide with a PP frame, creating the PPK/S. To continue selling the PPK model in the U.S., manufacture under license began in 1983, distributed by Interarms of Alexandria, Virginia. The pistol shown above is in good condition but has some light wear. There is some micro pitting on the right-hand side of the slide near the muzzle. The slide and hammer serrations have some light rust spots which can be taken care of using a little Flitz. The front sight is missing an coloration though this is a fairly easy fix as well. Finally, the left hand grip screw has some finish wear on it. The bore is in excellent condition with no rust or pitting. It is probable that this gun has been used a CC pistol before. Since there is no box, this pistol would be more of a shooter than a collector’s piece. It would certainly make an excellent conceal carry gun or back up gun. It comes with one spare magazine. According to research, this gun was produced between 1990 and 1991.
