Description:
Rarely encounterd the DL (sometimes also known as M) is a deluxe version of the 99. It incorporates the best of the old and the semi modern features of these exceptional woods rifles: it retains the classic rotary magazine, cocking indicator and cartridge counter but has the more modern and much better upper tang safety. As a 1960 (approx date of manufacture) gun it retains the (factory) hand checkering on the good looking American Walnut butt stock and forend as well as the alum butt plate with the Savage Logo and the more modern Monte Carlo stock (unique to the DL's pretty much) The forend which tapers is to many the most attrative of all the foend configurations. Most desirable and sought after in .308.
The metal finish is flat rather than shiny, it appears that it may have been cerakoted or similar but is free of any scrathches or rub marks on the blued areas. There is no pitting of any type
This one comes with an inexpensive but very clear and bright imported scope (wide view/duplex).
It does NOT have the often found split or crack on the upper tang, there are no repairs, cracks or other issues.
There is considerable case color retained on the lever.
