Description:
Purchased in 1978 from Ray's Antiques on Long Island, I've had this rifle for 43 years, and now it's time for someone else to enjoy it.
Marlin Model 1893 Deluxe rifle, featuring a 28" part octagon barrel, slightly longer than half magazine, pistol grip, 3X flame walnut, checkered stocks, shotgun butt with Marlin hard rubber butt plate, standard Marlin rear sight, Lyman Jack front sight with ivory bead, blued and case hardened finish, barrel marked Special Smokeless Steel, tope of receiver marked Marlin Safety, serial number 358535, made about 1914.

CONDITION: Remains as it was when purchased, it retains 85% bright original barrel and mag blue, 15% original case colors on the frame, very good bore, smooth action, properly working half cock safety, but not without some issues - long ago, it must have been dropped, as the butt plate is missing a piece and the toe of the butt stock has rounded off; the left side of the receiver shows 4 neatly plugged scope mounting holes, the top of the receiver has had the two holes for the Hepburn peep sight filled in and two additional holes drilled/tapped with plug screws. I haven't fired it in 20 years due to a headspace problem - primers back out with hotter loads but still could be fired with low pressure/cowboy action loads.

Undamaged, I'd be asking $4,000 or more for it. I think my price is reasonable considering the condition and rarity, but you can decide what it's worth to you.
