Description:
A very interesting two band rifle dated 1862 made at the Springfield Armory, with a 33" barrel ans chambered for the .58 cal. mini-ball and the bore is very clean rifled condition, yet I don't see any marking at the breech of the barrel. Action works well, and the stock and action fits very well , looking all original. Rest of gun .looks good. The American black walnut stock is very good.The second barrel band down has pitting but the barrel in the white is very clean no pitting . Looks like a bronzr type nipple? that looks clean.Also unusual is the bolster clean out screw not usually found on muskets , think this coud be a Whitney made barrel? Has a clean ram-rod possibly a replacement. When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith before shooting.
