Description:
Sharps New Model Civil War 1863 issued during Civil War, Metallic Cartridge Conversion Carbine, #C16265, .50-70 cal., 22'' blue barrel, case hardened frame, lever, hammer and sideplate; DFC cartouched walnut stock, with blue steel buttplate.

Antique.

After the Civil War the government decided to convert many small arms into metallic cartridge breechloaders; 31,098 Sharps Carbines were converted at this time and many used during the Indian wars. This particular example was re-lined and shows the three-groove rifling. They were refinished by the factory at time of alteration and new buttstocks without patch boxes were installed with ''DFC'' (inspector David F. Clark) cartouche.
Condition is fine as converted. Barrel retains approx. 92% lightly thinning blue. Case hardened components are mostly vivid with some silver gray toning, predominantly to the hammer and back portion of lockplate. Screws to left side of frame show mild distortion to slots. Stocks with mild scuffs and scratches over original varnish; cartouche is crisp, with some knackering to the bottom portion of stock and forend. Good action, bore is bright but has about a 2.5'' patch of light erosion at muzzle.

No FFL or C&R license needed.  As antique ships directly to your address.

Fully functional and shootable.

Cashiers check, money order, personal check or layaway accepted.
