Description:
This is an extremely rare US Military Trials rifle made at the Springfield Armory in 1875. It was the first production firearm designed by James Paris Lee (of later Lee-Enfield rifle fame) as a replacement for the Springfield Trapdoor. They were issued to companies of the 1st and 20th Infantry for trial. Only 143 were manufactured. This one is #85. It is all original and in near mint condition with a few minor handling marks. Functions perfectly. Bore is bright and clean with perfect rifling and no pitting. There is one small chip in the stock at the bottom where the buttplate meets (see pic). It is also missing the sling swivel at the trigger guard. Firearm is an Antique and will ship directly to purchaser. I will require proof of age over 18 years. Shipping is $200.00 UPS fully insured to the lower 48 states only. Firearm will ship in a gun sock and hard gun case.
