Adopted by the U.S. military in 1917 the Smith & Wesson M1917 is a double action revolver chambered in 45 Auto Rimmed and more commonly found 45 ACP the M1917 can fire 45 ACP without moon clips due to a shoulder machined into the cylinder giving the cartridge the correct head spacing The military service of the M1917 did not end with the First World War. After being parkerized and refurbished, most of the revolvers were re-issued to stateside security forces and military policemen, but 20,993 of them were issued overseas to "specialty troops such as tankers and artillery personnel" throughout the course of U.S. involvement in World War II. During the Korean War they were again issued to support troops. The M1917s were even used by members of the "tunnel rats" during the Vietnam War. Overall, the M1917 enjoyed over fifty years of service in the U.S. armed forces. .45 Auto

Metal Condition: The metal does have a fair amount of dings and scratches mostly on the barrel and some finish wear considering that this was a military issued pistol dings and scratches are expected
Wood Condition: The wood does have some damage no cracks or splits just dings and scratches
Bore Condition: Very good condition rifling is still very crisp with no signs of rust or pitting
Barrels: 5.5
Butt Pad: The butt of the pistol is in very good shape appears to have a small spot of surface rust
