Description:
SOLD!

This offering is for a Texas Longhorn Arms “IMPROVED NUMBER FIVE” revolver, 45 Colt caliber, absolutely new, unfired and in mint condition, produced in the mid 1990s by Bill Grover.

The cylinder appears un-turned, since production, with no impression on the recoil plate, and is chambered for the .45 Colt cartridge, serial number range 6XX.  The revolver, luxuriously highly-polished and deep blue finished, is housed in its beautiful blue velvet-lined, custom-fitted walnut presentation case, made from two solid 1 1/4” thick blocks of fine walnut, fitted with brass hardware.

Note:  Any detractions indicated in the accompanying photos are dust particles and not imperfections in the finish of the subject revolver.

Seller has owned several “Improved Number Five” and other model revolvers, produced by the late, gun-making master Bill Grover of  Richmond, Texas in the 1980s.  By far, the subject is the most highly polished, well-finished and newest condition Texas Longhorn Arms revolver observed by the writer to-date.

Bill Grover contended that Sam Colt, inventor of the famous Colt Single Action revolver, must have been left-handed, in that Colt built his famous six shot revolver, the “Peace-maker” with the loading gate, ejector rod and housing on the right, forcing a right-handed shooter to change hands to re-load the revolver.

Accordingly, Grover built his subject six shot revolver with the loading gate and ejector on the left, thereby, enabling a right-handed shooter to shoot, eject spent cartridge cases, re-load and continue shooting, without changing the revolver from one hand to the other.

To well-informed single-action revolver enthusiasts, the subject five-shot “Improved Number Five” revolver needs no introduction, since its production in the early to late 1980s.  The revolver’s quality, strength, fit and finish is surpassed by none and its market value has escalated, rapidly, since its introduction, limited production and Bill Grover’s untimely death.

The outstanding attributes of the “Improved Number Five” revolver are exemplified by recent sales at the renowned house, Rock Island , where two “Improved Number Five” revolvers sold, in April, 2018 and June, 2021 for $6,325 and $5,463, respectively.  Both were chambered for the .45 Colt cartridge, the same chambering as the subject revolver.

This offering presents a rare investment opportunity to own, shoot and enjoy one of the finest single-action revolvers ever made in absolutely new condition!
