Description:
The barrel date of this rifle is 4-25. The rifle's serial number is 1266635. This rifle is fitted with a Star gauged barrel chambered for the 30-1906 government service round. This barrel is marked with a correct Star on the muzzle crown. The bore is very fine and bright. This rifle also has the National Match rear sight and cross hatched butt plate. Everything else is standard military for that time frame. The inspector for this rifle is DAL. The Factory Research Letter States that this rifle is a Special Target Model. This Rifle was shipped to Dickinson County Rifle Club In Abilene Kansas on May 19 1927. There were very few of these Special Target rifles built. This is just a grade lower than a National Match Rifle. These Special Target Guns did not have the polished bolt with the serial number engraved on the bottom of the bolt. These rifles had the standard parkerized bolt with no serial number. The parkerizing on this rifle is very strong and would rate a 97% overall condition. The bolt shows the most wear due to operating the bolt. The stock is in very fine condition with no cracks or chips. The front sight has the correct hood intact. The trap door on the butt plate still has the nickel plated oiler and cleaning kit intact. The trigger release is very crisp with no creeping. These Special Target Rifles have a very low production run and were offered for a short time. This makes these guns quite rare today.
