An Early And Scarce U.S. Civil War & Mexican War Ames Model 1841 Naval Cutlass Dated 1846 in Very Nice Untouched Condition. All original and complete. The sword has a nice untouched blade with very good markings. It is marked on one side of the ricasso " N.P. AMES, CABOTVILLE and US/1846 on the other. The brass guard and grip are fine and untouched throughout. The quillion on the guard is U.S. Sub Inspected "JL" on one side & "RC" on the other. The guard is marked on the top inside "NO. 75" and on the backside "4D/7". The rare original riveted leather scabbard is fine throughout including the drag. This is A Fine & All Original Untouched Example Of A Scarce U.S. Civil War & Mexican War Ames Model 1841 Naval Cutlass That Would Be A Wonderful Addition to Any Early Collection!
