Description:
An unusual and rare to find is this underhammer, take-down rook gun or poacher's gun. Measuring about 48" with a screw off barrel of 29" and a very good condition American walnuy stock. The front sight is a bead type, and the rear sight is a notched insert. The hammer is pulled down manually and the string releases the hammer. The is a smooth bore of about a tight 28ga percussion. The bore has moderate corroding and pitting about half way down and the rest mostly clear. Has a brass cresecent butt-plate.these were taken apart and placed in an back-pack so it would be concealed. Almost never see these. Don't think iy's safe to shoot as this is for a light charge. When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith before shooting.
