Description:
PRE WW2 MAUSER OBERNDORF PORTUGUESE CONTRACT 1937 (MODEL 937-A or 937A ) K98K TYPE 8MM RIFLE CIRCA 1938. Serial numbered with "E" prefix and all matching (including stock) including bolt. Portuguese crest crisply struck on top of receiver ring along with "1937" and having the "Mauser Werke A.G. Overndorf " address on side wall. Large Nazi eagle proof next to serial number with same on barrel next to it. Rear sight also matches serial number as well as front "guarded" sight with correct hinged muzzle cover which is indicative of the Model 937A. The only difference between these and the normally seen K98k is the double sling swivels and the guards front sight with usually missing muzzle cover. Some of the original factory blue visible under traces of arsenal black enamel paint often used by armories for preservation so NEVER refinished with crisp markings. Some small bits of salt and pepper about front band. Same on thru stock bolt(will clean better). "WaA63" waffenamt markings in various places along with matching serial numbers. Stock is in it's original state with matching serial number(on underside behind lower sling swivel) as well and waffenamts on right side. Double rear sling swivels correct as well as front ones(matching to s/n). Flat buttplate correct but with some rust since been arrested (should clean better). Stock bolt also with some old rust but again will clean better. I left the old cosmoline intact since it's done a nice job of preservation with the stock never been cleaned or sanded. Bore good with a small pit or two(shouldn’t effect accuracy too much) should you choose to shoot this one...good candidate for it as locks up nice and tight and functions as it should with all it's original parts. Has correct cleaning rod. Imports marks very small near bayonet lug(NJ). Rare to find these especially matching.
