Description:
NSN, 16 Ga. (2") / 7.92 x 57JR, 26 7/8" barrels with excellent bright bores. This is a handsome and well-made drilling that was manufactured in 1924. The barrels retain about 60-70% of the original blue finish, with the balance fading to lightly freckled plum-brown. A small dent is present about 3 1/2" from the muzzle on the left tube that could easily be lifted. The gun features side clips, a Greener cross-bolt, Greener type safety on the left side just behind the frame, automatic flip-up rear rifle sight leaf, and set trigger. Extensive interwar German proofs, and steel maker markings are present throughout, however no maker is indicated. The frame has bright, original color case-hardening visible on the protected areas and lower tang, while the trigger guard is a more modern resin replacement. The checkered walnut forend and pistol grip buttstock with continental style rounded cheek-piece are in fine condition with only minor handling marks scattered about, and minor flattening of the points. The LOP is 14" to a roughly shaped, unfinished composite buttplate, with drops of 1 1/2" and 2 3/4" respectively. Lock-up is tight, and the actions are fully functional. This is a nice drilling that only needs a little bit of finishing work, and is in very good-fine overall condition. FFL or C&R
