This is an interesting revolver that has a spring-loaded plunger type friction brake impinging on the cylinder about midway that has left a wide turn ring in the otherwise nice original blue finish. The barrel and cylinder retain about 60-70% of the original blue finish with the frame retaining about 25-30%, mostly on protected areas, and a dull pewter gray on the balance. There is a small casting flaw on the topstrap, and no retailer’s marking, but the Webley “Winged Bullet" logo and “WEBLEY’S / PATENT" markings are present on the either side of the frame. The checkered walnut grips have lozenge-shaped screw bolsters, and are in very good shape with light-moderate wear, and flattening of the points on both panels. This very revolver is illustrated on pg. 166 of “Webley Solid Frame Revolvers – Models RIC, MP, and No. 5" by Black, Davis, and Michaud (2010). This is a very nice, published, pre-RIC revolver, and rates very good-fine condition overall.
