Warranted original percussion imported lock plate. Tiger maple stock with brass mounts and 11 silver inlays. Stock forend with incise carving about the rear pipe. Brass two screw flintlock style side plate and Urn Finial patchbox. Considerable early features seen on rifles from Frederick, Hampshire and Berkeley county area of northern Virginia. The first letter “S” of the unreadable signature may indicate one of the 14 Sheetz family of makers from the area. Excellent all original overall with the original finish with nice handling patina.
