Description:
This is a very nice, all-original and honest Remington Rand Model 1911A1 .45 ACP pistol that was manufactured during the last stages of WW2 in January of 1945.  This G.I. bring-back pistol is still in the exact configuration that it originally left the factory, it has never been arsenal overhauled or modified in any way.  We have gone through it entirely and it is all by-the-book according to the bible of 1911A1 collecting, Collector's Guide to Colt .45 Service Pistols Models of 1911 and 1911A1 by Charles W. Clawson.  The original factory parkerizing is still very handsome, showing only light wear and minor speckling.  Most of the finish wear is located on the high edges and the front right 1/3rd of the slide, likely due to less-than-ideal storage at some point along the way and some holster wear.  The speckling is scattered in various places and is a result of minor surface rust that was removed at some point.  As you can see from the pictures, almost all of the finish wear is light and uniform across the gun, there are no bad spots or "eyesores".  All of the major parts and most of the small parts are all very consistent in color and degree of wear.  The only parts that stand out as a little darker than the rest are the slide stop and barrel bushing, a rather common occurance on these.  All of the factory markings and inspection markings are still intact and visible including the U.S. Ordnance Wheel and the "FJA" initials of inspector Frank J. Atwood.  The original blue finish on the High Standard-sourced barrel is in good shape as well, showing only light finish wear on the exposed chamber area and some light finish wear on the last 1/3rd of the muzzle end of the barrel where it makes contact with the barrel bushing when the slide is worked.  The bore is excellent and bright with strong rifling throughout and just a touch of frosting.  The original grips on this Remington Rand are in excellent condition, with both sides free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or visible wear.  The checkering is still crisp and clean and the original grip screws have nice clean slots and great original finish.  The action of this 1911A1 is slick and smooth, and the slide-to-frame fitment is excellent.  The barrel slides up into battery perfectly and all of the controls on this 1911 are in perfect working order.  This Remington Rand 1911A1 should function just as reliably today as the day it left the factory over 76 years ago.  This handsome Remington Rand comes complete with one original factory magazine marked "G" on the upper side of the floorplate's lip, for the General Shaver Division of Remington Rand.  If you have been looking for a clean all-original 1911A1 that is good enough to be a great long-term investment but not so perfect that you would feel guilty shooting it on occasion, this 1945-production gun would be a superb choice.
