This is an interesting one that came to us via consignment...
What we can tell...it's a Winchester 1894 or Model 94, of that we have no doubt. She's chambered in .30-30 Win. She has the classic "Cowboy" crescent butt stock design and all the features of a Pre-64, like the exposed screw underneath the receiver behind the trigger guard on the lever assembly and what appears to be the original straight-back eject design. We believe this was a special order from Miroku on or after 2010 when the Model 94 we reintroduced by Winchester under license by the Herstal Group (FN) in partnership with Miroku Firearms Company in Kochi, Japan.
We have held our share of Model 94's at KTC, probably more Model 94's than any other rifle. There is something about this one....it's solid....very solid. Even the lever safety works...every time, which is rare for this model. There are very few markings....only a Winchester stamp and a .30-30 stamp on the barrel. Of note there are two small dings on each side of the tubular magazine noted in the pics and do not interfere with feeding. Also, the rear buckhorn site has been removed and a tang peep added, as well as the front blade has been replaced by a higher-end front site to pair with the peep. She's seen some use, but not mistreated at all and we would rate at Very Good condition. If you're a 94 fan, this one will fit into your collection nicely....AND, like all the others that have relegated themselves to living in your safe, this one is shootable....pushing that 150gr .30 caliber bullet out past 200 yards. We guarantee you do not know many who own a Model 94 in this configuration. Get after it!
