Description:
Sold...This is a unique antique Kentucky rifle. The rifle belonged to the Cox Family out Asheville,  North Carolina. The Cox family had a large land grant from the King of England. It has a 46 inch barrel...swamped barrel...44 caliber. The was a flintlock rifle converted to a percussion.  It had a tang sight mounted in the earlier days...must have been accurate. This was a hunting rifle not a target rifle. Double set trigger and a Ketland lock. The bore has good rifling. The original sights are in excellent condition. I don't know if this rifle was made in North Carolina or Virginia. There is about 22 inches of the forestock...curly maple is missing. There is no cracks in the stock except a small one opposite the lock. I think this would be an excellent rifle to put back in to original state. Usps priority mail is 80.00
