Arrieta y CIA is one of the finest of the Spanish made shotguns produced in the true Basque traditions. Michael McIntosh praises the Arrieta in his book "Best Guns" and in fact carried his Arrieta afield as much as any other gun he owned. The Basque makers were famous for making quality "copies" of other guns, and this Arrieta is a Holland & Holland sidelock action produced to perfection. With perfectly struck chopper lump barrels, removable striker discs, articulated front trigger, stocked to the fences, , beaded fences, rolled edge trigger guards, cocking indicators, deep chiseled fine Rose and Scroll engraving, detachable Holland & Holland sidelocks, case colored action, you have ALL OF THE BEST GUN FEATURES AT A FRACTION OF THE PRICE of a British pair! This MATCHED PAIR was made in 2003 and remain in near new condition with only a few light handling marks in the wood. These guns are a true matched pair, each weighing just 6lbs. 12oz. and balanced just perfectly 1/4” ahead of the hinge pin, 29” chopper lump barrels, round body actions, 15” LOP to checkered butts with nicely figured English stocks with English style grips and splinter forends. Cased in a fine oak and leather maker’s case ($3000 case!) with accessories, these guns have seen little use and are ready for your next driven grouse shoot, sporting clays event, or for your upland needs. The oak and leather case, round actions, gold inlaid crest on the trigger guards, and finely figured English walnut stocks are all significant extra-cost upgrades compared to the standard Model 578 guns. When considering American hunting methods, how nice is it to have a perfectly matched backup gun when you take your major trips for a week or two of bird hunting? How about your son or daughter having a gun exactly like dad’s? Arrieta was considered to be among the finest of the Spanish makers and are no longer producing firearms due to the high cost of hand building BEST GUNS.
