Description:
This National Postal Meter Carbine was produced around 4-1944. The carbine's serial number is 4290728. This carbine has a undated I.B.M. barrel with a bright bore. I.B.M. was one of the prime barrel suppliers for National Postal Meter. This late production carbine has all of the correct parts for the serial number range and production date. All of these parts show wear and use consistant with each other. The blued flat bolt has the correct extractor and firing pin intact. The Front sight is the stamped style coded for National Postal Meter. The rear sight is the flip sight also coded for National Postal Meter. The trigger housing is also milled. The carbine retains the original finish on the parts and gun itself. This carbine has the rare low wood stock that is very seldom seen with this maker. It also has the rare type 2 barrel band that is very seldom seen on these Natinal Postal Meter carbines. The stock and hand guard are properly coded for National Postal Meter. This gun does show some service wear and use. The stock has a nick on the right side of the stock between the oval oiler cut out and butt plate. Other than that the stock and hand guard are in very fine condition. The sling is a correct olive drab sling. The oiler is by International Silver. This carbine is a fairly rare variation of the National Postal Meter produced guns with that low wood stock and type 2 barrel band. National Postal Meter only produced 6.8% of the war production of carbines. That breaks down to about 413017 carbines produced.
