Standard length for 12 ga. Model 1887 shotguns was 30" with anything shorter or longer special order. This is a particularly nice, unaltered example. It seems most of this model saw very hard use and often abuse. Many were also altered with cut barrels, recoil pads added etc. This one shows uncleaned aged blue mixing plum on the barrel and magazine tube with gray on the tube just ahead of the receiver from normal handling. The originally case colored receiver has aged dark and is uncleaned with a sharp Winchester logo on the left side. Wood shows normal light handling and the stock retains the original checkered steel butt plate. Aside from a couple of buggered tang screws, everything is fine on this one inside and out. Tight action and fine bore showing only light /minor scattered surface roughness. The stock has some nice grain to it that some careful cleaning would probably bring out. Hard to find like this especially with a special order extra length barrel.
