The right side lock plate is stamped “U. S. SPRINGFIELD” with a eagle holding an olive branch and arrows in its talons. It is also dated “1864”, just behind the hammer. The trap door is stamped “1866”, and the American walnut stock is very clean with an oil fiish and possiblyrefiished ? no damage evident or even much wear . Fit and finish is excellent. The barrel and frame are a brown aged patina, and the bands more finished bright. Comes with a cleaning rod and correct rear sight. Action works well, and the bore of this .50-70 cal is very clean , strong rifling amd some surface corrosion more toward the muzzle but not pitted-out.
