The metal surfaces have toned to a gray-brown patina with scattered light oxidation staining, traces of light pitting, a few specks of oxidation, and a few light handling marks. The walnut stock and forend are in about very good condition as lightly cleaned with old light chipping on the left side of the wrist against the receiver, an about 3/4'' crack on the underside of the wrist, a small chip at the buttplate, and the buttplate is proud of the stock. The stock is marked with the remnants of what appear to be Nepalese markings on the right side of the buttstock, as well as ''II / I''. The barrel, rear sight, left side of the receiver, lever, and barrel bands are marked with mostly clear British proofs and War Department markings, and the right side of the receiver has light but legible correct ''(Queens Cypher) / V.R / ENFIELD / (defaced date) / (view mark) / II''. The rifle is sighted with the correct barleycorn front sight and ladder rear sight, the range adjustment for which does not hold spring tension and falls to the lowest setting. The rifle appears to function well mechanically. Included with the rifle is a cleaning rod. A solid example of these British military rifles from a colorful era of the British Empire.
