The 1889 Marlin was the first solid-top receiver, lever action rifle with a side ejection that threw the fired cases, or live cartridges, to the right-hand side of the rifle as opposed to being thrown straight up and out of the gun. The Marlin 1889 was very popular rifle More than 55,000 guns left the factory between 1889 and 1903. In its day, the model was considered state of the art .38-40 Winchester

Metal Condition: The metal is in good to fair condition there is minor surface corrosion on the barrel and receiver the original finish is almost gone and has oxidized brown common on older guns it does appear that someone has attempted to clean or remove corrosion
Wood Condition: "The wood is in good condition it does have dings, dents, scratches, and wear but that is common on guns over 100 years old
Bore Condition: The bore is in good condition there are signs of some minor corrosion and pitting
