The S&W .38 Safety Hammerless Fifth Model was made from 1907 to 1940, serial range 220000 to 261493. This late teens vintage .38 Safety Hammerless is fitted with a 3 1/4 inch barrel, "S&W" monogramed checkered black hard rubber grips, open sights, internal hammer with grip safety, is blue finished, and chambered in .38 S&W. This 5-shot double action Safety Hammerless is in fine condition, retaining 60-70% original blue, with most loss due to holster wear. The bore is bright, with sharp rifling, but there is some corrosion spotting (perfectly shootable). The grips are in fine condition, the left grip has turned brown in color and there is a small crack on the bottom. The action locks up tight and functions perfectly. All screw-heads are unmolested. It is all numbers matching (Frame to: cylinder, barrel, top latch, and grips). A nice example of its type.
