Description:
The Remington Model 788 was produced between 1967 and 1983. They were meant to be an inexpensive but well-built offering to compete against their competitor's budget options for customers who did not yet want a 700. The rifle has an interesting bolt design, the bolt has three rows of three lugs each for a total of nine lugs, furthermore, they are located at the rear of the bolt. This design results in a shorter bolt throw of approximately 60 degrees, it also allows the bolt travel to be shorter. The single stack magazine design and the lack of bolt rails on the interior result in a thicker receiver giving it quite a bit of strength. This Model 788 chambered in the .308 Winchester cartridge was manufactured in 1978. The rifle is in about Very Good condition with about 85% of its metal finish remaining, and the bore is bright with sharp rifling. .308 Winchester
