ALL ORIGINAL CIVIL WAR SPENCER U.S. CAVALRY CARBINE. 52RF caliber six groove 22” barrel. No post-Civil War alterations. Early 25,xxx serial number issued late 1863 and in the 2nd New York Cavalry Volunteers issue range. Fine all original grey patina on metal and wood with the original finish. Full U.S. Army Ordnance sub-inspection stamps on all major parts. And faint cartouche on stock. Butt stock with correct sling swivel for this early model and shows the wear on the left side of the butt from the sling clip rubbing against the stock attesting to it’s authentic Civil War battle use. Working order and good bore.
