It is 28 1/4" long without the false muzzle attached. The bore is perfect and it has 12 lands and grooves with a left hand twist. The barrel has been drilled and tapped for target scope blocks and the blocks are there. The false muzzle is present as is a Pope style bullet starter. Bore is .408 and the chamber takes the original style brass, currently available from Buffalo Arms (made from reformed 30-40 cases). The stock set is rather interesting. The stock has a hard rubber Ballard buttplate, and the stock has a blank oval as if it was meant to be a presentation gun. The original Ballard serial number is on the head of the stock as you can see in the photos. The forend is not serial numbered but the wood and checkering does match the butt stock. And the wood, and its checkering are amazing. The muzzle is is just about 1.25" across. There is a dovetail cut for a front sight but it has a slot filler in it. The bore on this rifle is excellent. If you have a Ballard action and have wanted to shoot with a false muzzle the might be the parts set for you. I cant imagine how much this would cost to have it made today. If you have questions, let me know. Strength and honor! SOLD |
