We offer you a “First Year” Remington model 870 Ducks Unlimited 12 gauge pump action shotgun from 1974.
Our Remington 870 shotgun wears the date code of “OY” which tells us it was manufactured in July of 1974. 1974 was the first year that the 870 was offered at the Ducks Unlimited dinners. This is a “Gorgeous” example of a 1974 Ducks Unlimited Remington Model 870 shotgun. The left side of the receiver features a special engraving pattern with gold lacquer and Ducks Unlimited “Shield” which gives the 870DU a very distinct appearance. The markings read “REMINGTON 870 WINGMASTER / 5190DU”. The left side of the barrel is marked “12 GA for 2 ¾” OR SHORTER SHELLS / FULL / PROOF MARK - OY”. The right side of the receiver shows gold lacquered scroll engraved. The right side of the barrel is marked “REP” proof “W’ with a proof mark. It wears a 30” vent rib barrel that has a mirror bore with no issues. There is one small rough spot on the bottom of the barrel as shown in the pictures. The rest of metal finish is in excellent condition as shown. Both stocks are in excellent condition with a few very minor signs of use. The most distracting mark is pointed out in the pictures. The L.O.P. is 13 7/8” over the original Remington marked recoil pad.
