A very fine and rare Ken Preater engraved 12 bore ejector, serial no. 7696, 27 in nitro chopperlump barrels, rib engraved "John Dickson & Son, 21 Frederick Street, Edinburgh" gold inlaid "1" in an oval, 2 3/4inch chambers, bored approx 1/4 and 3/4 choke, bores measure .729 L .730 R, Min wall thickness R .23 L .21, Toplever gold inlaid "1", automatic safety with gold inlaid "SAFE", gold washed cocking levers, ornate fences carved in high relief with fliliciform motifs on a matted background, the action bar finely engraved with game scenes of pheasant, partridge and grouse in their natural habitats, surrounded by further flowing leaf and and scroll designs carved in relief and on a matted background, the makers name in a scrolling banner, the underside gold inlaid "Dickson's Patent", the triggerplatte signed "Engr. K. Preater", retaining full original color case hardening and finish, 15in figured stock, weight 6lb. 4oz. Ken was the head engraver at Holland and Holland for many yearspleted in 1978, this was one of the last guns made in the Edinburgh shop. A unique opportunity to own a rare 1 of 2 dickson rounactions engraved by K. Preater in virtually new condition at less than half the price of a new compareably engraved Dickson Roundaction.
