THIS IS THE NEW ARMY/NEW NAVY DOUBLE ACTION MODEL ALMOST ENTIRELY CHAMBERED IN .38 COLT AND .41 COLT. This model was made from 1892-1907 and is quickly identified by the left turning cylinder (often called "Left Wheelers") with elongated notches at the rear of the cylinder. At the very end of production a few were turned out in .32-20 caliber. Even the standard book Flayderman's Guide to Antique American Firearms only shows this model being made in .38 and .41 Colt. This model was replaced in 1907 with the more Modern Army Special and later the Official Police revolvers both of which were chambered in .32-20. So, very few "Left Wheeler" New Army/New Navy revolvers were made in .32-20 and one can go years of looking without finding one. This example with serial number 279XXX was made in the last year of production of 1907. Most revolvers chambered in .32-20 were for outdoorsman who paired them with .32-20 caliber rifles, hence most have seen hard outdoor use. This example with 6" barrel is tight mechanically with an excellent bore and original Colt embossed hard rubber grips which fit perfectly and are marked on the inside with the last four digits of the serial number in white numerals. Mostly the surface is a silvery gray with some good blue in the cylinder flutes and protected areas. The front sight has not been altered and markings are fine including the rampant colt stamping on the left side of the frame above the grips, the correct Colt address and patent markings ending in 1895 on the barrel top and the caliber marking on the left side of the barrel ".32 W.C.F." (.32 Winchester Center Fire, same as .32-20). Most Colt collectors are unaware of this caliber in this model!
