Payment Types Accepted: U.S. Postal Money Order, Cashier's Check Description: The Colt Walker is the rarest prize of any Colt collection. Only 1100 Walkers were originally built, both military and civilian. One-thousand were Military Walkers and 100 Civilian Walkers. Approximately only 10% of all survive today. Most of these are in private collections or museums. Due the the extreme rarity, high cost and great demand of the originals there have been some outstanding copies made. THIS IS ONE OF THOSE COPIES. Although I have had some extremely desirable original Colts, I have never been able to afford a few of the most highly prized collectable Colts, the Walker being one of them. This Walker that I have for sale, though a Copy, has the correct size and style serial #s and markings just like an original Walker. All markings are in the correct places both inside and outside. Whoever built this old Walker had a detailed knowledge of the original Colt Walker and paid strict attention to all details. It has a greyish-brown patina with light salt and pepper pitting beneath the patina. It is marked US 1847 on the right barrel lug. It also has the correct New York Colt barrel address. Some of the civilian Colts were also used in the Mexican-American War by US soldiers. Captain Samuel H. Walker carried Civilian Serial #s1009 and 1010, gifted to him by Samuel Colt during the Mexican War. I have known men that have owned both original Walkers (kept in a safe) and Walker copies for display. This is a beautiful and old Walker copy. Thanks for looking. SOLD Antique: Yes |
