Description:
This is a very well-maintained Colt Bisley single action. It is in .38 WCF (.38-40) with 4.75” barrel and Colt factory ivory grips. It was shipped to Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Company, Chicago, January 28, 1910, in its present configuration, though type of grips is not listed in the letter. It is mechanically very good and has a bore showing very little use – no pitting or corrosion and very strong rifling. The ivory grips are fitted with deep set, forward facing rampant Colts as were commonly used between 1910 and 1929, according to Cochran, so the grips may well be original to the gun. The blue is fading on most areas exposed to use, but strong in protected areas. The case colors are also faded but visible in protected areas. There is almost no surface damage and the areas on the frame where case colors are not visible are still highly polished and silvery.

This Bisley was returned to the factory at some point as is evidenced by the rework marks. There is a six-pointed star on the right rear trigger guard bow and assembly numbers on the back strap, grip strap, cylinder face, ejector rod head, ejector rod housing, frame, barrel, hammer notch and loading gate. It is also possible the grips were added at the time of the rework. On the inside of the grips above the screw hole on both grips is the faint serial number. Also, when you get the light just right, you can see the name “Allan or Allen Brown” on the left grip. If it's there, it is indistinguishable on the right one.

The gun is kept in a proper vintage, fine quality, fancy, heavy leather, carved and studded (spotted) H. H. Heiser (Denver) double loop holster which is in extremely good condition.

There is no 3 Day return policy. Look at the pictures, read the description carefully and ask questions. We accept returns only if we have misrepresented an item.

Our prices reflect a 4% discount for cash or certified funds (Cashier’s Check, USPS Money Order – no Western Union or other type money order). Credit card payments do not receive this discount.
