-------------Sale Pending-----------------Colt SAA 1896 Factory-Engraved, Cal. 45, this has been re-nickel long ago and still see most all of the engraving, a good bore, 4 ¾” barrel, Manufactured in Hartford Connecticut in 1896 on top of the barrel was a two line Colt address on the left side of the barrel says 45 Colt on the left side of the frame as two line patent address with the rampant horse in a circle this is an all matching serial number gun. Comes with two piece hard rubber grips and is mechanically in good condition with good lockup in single-action. Comes with a factory letter this gun was shipped to Hibbard, Spencer, Barrtlett & Co. Chicago, IL in April 10, 1896 in a 3 gun Shipment Serial Number 1650XX This Gun is “ANTIQUE” Ship right to your Door”
A Factory engraved Colt single action is a rare beauty, and it seems to cause more than ordinary desire of ownership in many collectors. They are the most sought after and the most expensive, of all single-action’s. This one, from 1896, is engraved in the classic Helfricht style. It was Re-Nickel long ago, but retains most of its original detail. One of the unique details of the gun is the banner engraved around the caliber stamping on the barrel. Handed down through a family which said it had belonged to a sheriff in Arizona only this could not be confirmed.
